Sometimes we need to remember that God is God.
In a world of “Jesus is my homeboy” and ridiculous stuffed plush toys, we sometimes belittle who Jesus is, and what He did while on Earth.
Or maybe it’s more powerful to remember what He DIDN’T do on Earth.
- Jesus never picketed a soldier’s funeral.
- Jesus never looked a gay man in the eyes and said, “You’re going to hell.”
- Jesus never ex-communicated a woman because she got divorced.
- Jesus never gave something publicly to be known as a generous person.
- Jesus never bombed an abortion clinic.
- Jesus never bragged about His church attendance.
- Jesus never broke promises to His family.
- Jesus never punched someone in the face, or kicked them when they were down.
- Jesus never said that America deserves to be number 1.
- Jesus never advocated war. Period.
- Jesus never scoffed at a homeless woman because she smelled dirty.
And we can go on and on…
Jesus was a man of His words, and His words were bold in their love for people.
“Love your neighbor as yourself”
“Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.”
Do GOOD to those who hate you?! Are we reading this right? How FAR we’ve fallen from Jesus’ teachings! If the issue a Christian wants to combat is abortion, they should be sitting in those abortion clinics, waiting for the women to come back out and they should hold them, and pray for them, and cry with them.
When did Christians start to become the terrorists? When did they start bombing clinics and shooting Pro-Abortion doctors?Is that really loving those who hate you?
